A sleek and jaunty little vintage sans based on the titles of “The House on Haunted Hill”.

William Castle (1914-1977) was an American director, producer, screenwriter and occasional actor.  He directed a string of B-movie horrors and thrillers in 1950s and 60s, many of which featured clever promotional gimmicks.  Many of his films are considered cult classics.

One of these was the 1959 horror “The House on Haunted Hill” which he produced and directed.  Starring an ensemble cast with Vincent Price, Carol Ohmart, Richard Long, Alan Marshal, Carolyn Craig, Julie Mitchum and Elisha Cook Jr.  Certain showings of this film featured “Emergo”, a real skeleton with glowing red eyes that would fly over the audience during a key moment in the film to match the on-screen action.

Similarly to “Night of the Living Dead“, this film also fell into the public domain because its copyright was not properly renewed.
