Bamboozle – 258 glyphs, 4 weights.

Bold, monospaced pixel font based on the titles of the Channel 4 Teletext UK game sensation “Bamboozle!”.

Teletext was a kind of ticker system in the United Kingdom that could use the top few lines of specially adapted television sets to convey news, sports, weather and share prices. Since they didn’t have access to any of this content, the platform became a national joke.

Eventually someone came up with a quiz show, conceptually similar to “Who Wants to be a Millionaire”, called “Bamboozle!”. Hosted by Bamber Boozler, multiple answer questions could be answered with Fastext keys, colour coded buttons featured on the remotes of Teletext equipped televisions.

Originally a weekly game with 25 questions presented, it morphed into a daily offering featuring 15 questions by 1993. Due to lagging interest,  it was discontinued in 2009.
